What is a cubic yard?

1 cu. yd. = 27 cu. ft. 12" deep.
A 2 yd. spread 3" deep
will cover a 15' x 15' area.
This information allows us to calculate how much
material you need to order to fill a certain area.
Nine 3 cu.
ft. bags of mulch = 1 cu. yd.
A standard size
pickup truck bed (6'-8') can haul 2 cu. yd., heaped
up on back.
» approx. weight of mulch: 800 lbs per yd.
» approx. weight of stone: 1½ tons per yd.
» approx. weight of topsoil: 1¼ tons per yd.

Our loader is equipped with a cubic yard bucket
to accurately measure our materials. This gives the customer an
honest deal, as well as creates a standard by which accurate
yardage can be calculated and measured.
Call our office with the measurements of your
project area in length and width (x' by y') and the depth of
material in inches, and we'll be more than happy to calculate the
amount in cubic yards you will need for your project!
