What is a cubic yard?

1 cu. yd. = 27 cu. ft. 12" deep.
A 2 yd. spread 3" deep will cover a 15' x 15' area.
This information allows us to calculate how much
material you need to order to fill a certain area.

Nine 3 cu. ft. bags of mulch = 1 cu. yd.

A standard size pickup truck bed (6'-8') can haul 2 cu. yd., heaped up on back.
» approx. weight of mulch: 800 lbs per yd.
» approx. weight of stone: 1½ tons per yd.
» approx. weight of topsoil: 1¼ tons per yd.

Our loader is equipped with a cubic yard bucket to accurately measure our materials. This gives the customer an honest deal, as well as creates a standard by which accurate yardage can be calculated and measured.
